Globally established as a “trainer of trainers”, Dr. Smith is instrumental in the continued development of MIS spine techniques and technologies, offering his specialized expertise to both his patients and the industry.

Dr. Smith serves as the Chairman of AIMIS Spine Plc. as well as the Director of Performance Improvement for the Western Regional Center for Brain & Spine Surgery and the Chief of Neurosurgery for the University Medical Center, Las Vegas, Nevada.

He has also served academic appointments with Desert Springs Hospital, Las Vegas, NV (Chief of Neurosurgery, Director of Spinal Center); Mountain View Hospital, Las Vegas, NV (Chief of Neurosurgery); Veterans Administration Medical Center, The University of Arizona (Action Section Chief); and The University of Arizona (Assistant Professor of Clinical Surgery).

Dr. Smith performed his Residency in Neurological Surgery with Georgetown University Medical Center, Washington, DC. He earned his doctorate of medicine and bachelors of science degree from Georgetown University.

Dr. Smith is a certified Diplomat of The American Board of Neurological Surgery and licensed in the states of Nevada and Arizona. He is a member of numerous professional associations, including the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, American Academy of Spine Physicians, American Medical Association, North American Spine Society and the Hydrocephalus Association. In addition to his civic involvement, Dr. Smith is well published and has been invited to conduct neurosurgery presentations throughout the United States, Mexico, Europe & Asia.
